Since academics in the Republic of Belarus are currently suffering from repression and are fighting for democratic freedom, the ZZF decided to support their fellow historians and announced three Visiting Fellowships for Belarusian scholars. Valery Bułhakaŭ, Anton Liavitski and Iryna Ramanava will be coming to Potsdam this summer for two months each and be part of the international legacies of communism team. They will be invited to pursue their individual research and take part in the academic life at the ZZF.
Corinna Kuhr-Korolev will be talking about "Perestrojka im Museum – Brüche und Kontinuitäten" in the colloquium by the ZZF Potsdam on 14.1.2021 (10.15-11.45). The presentation will be held in german. For access to the ZOOM meeting, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
In order to support our colleagues from the historical profession in the Republic of Belarus who currently suffer from repression due to the struggle against the regime and for democratic freedom the ZZF would like to invite individual scholars for a stay at the institute.
After more than four weeks in Ukraine, I feel tired but satisfied with what I have managed to do despite COVID-19. Surprisingly, through the Corona-lens I have discovered a lot about my own country. I was able to observe how people in different parts of the world react to the current situation. Furthermore, I have learnt how to navigate through such unusual circumstances. I have spent most of my time in Kyiv, plus five days in Odesa and three days both in Dnipro and in Lviv.
From 21 to 24 September the first online workshop of the project "Legacies of Communism" took place with the title "Agency versus/with Structure: On the question of how transformation is enacted". Originally, the workshop was meant to take place at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, but due to the Corona pandemic the workshop had to be moved into the digital sphere.

When the Legacies-Project (Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam, ZZF) started the preparation for the workshop “Agency versus/with Structure: On the question of how transformation is enacted” at the partner institute Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Corona was not yet an issue. Yet this has proven impossible in current conditions, and we had to move the event into the digital space. The online workshop "Agency versus/with Structure: On the question of how transformation is enacted" will now take place via ZOOM from September 21 - 24, 2020. If you are interested in participating
